Video Hall of Shame

Or...just because you can, doesn't mean you should.....

Using a low quality Flip Cam for poor real estate video tours$100 "Flip Style" pocket video cameras are all the rage with Realtors®. While they are quite acceptable outdoors and for "talking head" interviews, they fall flat indoors - in a big way. They have horrible audio, are difficult to stabilize, and none have a wide angle lens that is even remotely acceptable for real estate interiors (although some agents glue a $30 adapter over their lens, which then creates curved walls!). If you think about it, the wide angle LENS we use for video tours (just the lens only, no camera body!) costs nearly $1000! To expect anywhere nearly the same quality with an entire camera that costs $100 obviously isn't really realistic! It's all about using the right tool for the job.

Zappos.com, the largest online shoe retailer, offers 7 professionally shot photos PLUS a video on every shoe, including a $32 sandal. If you're marketing a property costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, does it make good business sense to use hand held, blurry, shakey video? Remember, 40% of the value of your video is in selling a specific property - 60% of the value is in selling you and promoting your brand. You must carefully craft your online image in order to present that brand in the most professional way possible. Something akin to Uncle Bob's bad home movies is generally not the going to do the trick for most buyers!

You be the judge.... A random sampling of "interesting" real estate marketing videos found on YouTube.....

(of course, these were NOT done by Nashua Video Tours!)
