Of course, this is what most agents fear! There is nothing that can solidify your branding with your current or future clients then appearing on screen in your video. Most agents hate being on camera, which gives an immediate advantage to those who are comfortable with it.
“I hate the way I look”, “I hate the sound of my voice”, “I’m too fat”, “I’m too pale”… and the list goes on!
Get over it! It’s that simple. If YOU don’t like the way you look or sound, there is a simple remedy – don’t watch it!
But be prepared for everyone ELSE to love it, to compliment you and most importantly, to recognize and feel comfortable with you, which is the whole purpose of putting yourself out there! All things being equal, people do business with, and refer business to people they know, like and trust. Introducing yourself to a new client via video instills all three of those traits in a new client. Before they even meet you, they feel like they KNOW you. Words on a page or still photographs are unable to do this – hence the power of video.
When you have to appear on camera, does it take an hour or more to shoot a 1-2 minute intro?
With a little practice, you should be able to nail it in a couple of takes! Of course, the one thing that we strive for is trying to be natural and conversational, as if you were shooting on the fly. But, you don’t WANT to do it ‘on the fly’, you want to prepare, not wing it. These videos are meant to grow your business and solidify your branding. Do you think someone wants to work a stressed out, frustrated you – or a confident and charismatic you?
You need bullet proof preparation – steps that you follow each and every time. You need to nail it on 3 takes – or less.
By keeping your remarks brief, we can make your appearance effective, as well as keep your blood pressure down at the same time! And, we try and make it fun, which makes you feel more comfortable and natural. And guaranteed, the more you do it, the more comfortable you will be and the more natural you will appear!
We try and make it easy for you. We film you in smaller bites, so it’s easier for you remember what you want to say. It’s not necessary to personally give a tour of the entire house. A brief into at the beginning, and a brief outro at the end, with a call to action, is really all that is necessary. We don’t want you to get frustrated, have a mini-meltdown and have it show on screen.
It is important to rehearse what you intend to say. Keep it succinct and brief. Practice! We know your time is valuable!
